Temporary Driver/Warehouse worker

Department: Operations
Location: San Francisco, CA

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  Responsible for warehouse duties as assigned, volunteer project coordination and pick-up and delivery in box food bank trucks. The position requires someone who will work a flexible schedule.


  1. Deliver and pick up holiday barrels for throughout Marin during holiday season.
  2. When not delivering or picking up barrels perform all daily warehouse duties including handling of product, operation of warehouse equipment, inventory of product and supplies, sanitation, volunteer activity coordination, building orders and invoicing agencies on shop floor.
  3. Organize product flow and storage to maximize space efficiency and maintain the highest level of safety standards.
  4.  Receive, weigh, document and process produce, fresh rescue and food drive products.
  5. Lead or assist in supervision of warehouse volunteers to increase job efficiency in warehouse tasks such as sorting or repacking product, product movement, cleaning projects, and equipment maintenance. Insure a positive volunteer experience.
  6. Accurately complete all necessary paperwork for daily closing, inventory audits, transfers, invoicing, dump logs, and temperature logs.
  7. Assist agency shoppers by accurately invoicing product and insuring proper amounts are taken.
  8. When dispatched pick up donations and barrels. Deliver to brown bag sites and to locations with home delivered groceries.
  9. Complete all driver’s logs and DVIRS as required. 
  10. Contribute to the safety and maintenance of all equipment.


  1. Flexibility to work changing schedule.
  2. High School diploma or equivalent.
  3. Ability to lift up 50 pounds.
  4. Valid California commercial driver’s license.
  5. Experience in driving a 16’ – 26’ bobtail truck.
  6. Experience using forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, etc.
  7. Use basic math skills to maintain accurate transactions.
  8. Basic computer skills for entering invoices.
  9. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  10. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in the warehouse.
  11. Ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment.
  12. Ability to motivate and organize individuals.
  13. Knowledge of the geography of San Francisco.


PAY RATE:  $18.00 / hour
